Faulty Connections
If you change a schema of a source or target component, the mapping may become invalid and contain faulty connections. This topic explains how to fix such connections after you have changed the schema file.
The screenshot below shows an excerpt of our sample mapping.

For testing purposes, we have changed the root element of the target schema to Company-EU. Since the root element has changed, MapForce prompts us to select a new root element:

Clicking Select new root element at the top of the component opens a dialog in which you need to specify the new root element. In our case, it is Company-EU. You can also change the root element by right-clicking the component header and selecting Change Root Element from the context menu.

The Company-EU root element is now visible at the top of the target component (screenshot below). The target component also displays the invalid root element with its children in red. To move the connection from the faulty Company node to the new root element, we press and hold the thick section (see red arrow below) of the Company's connection and drag it to the Company-EU root element.

MapForce asks whether you would like to move all the matching child connections. You can choose between the following options:
•Moving only the selected connection.
•Moving the selected connection and its descendant connections that match the child nodes of the new root element.
In our example, we have chosen the option Include descendent connections. Clicking this button has produces the following results:
•All the faulty nodes have disappeared from the target component.
•The matching nodes in the source and the new target element have been connected.
You can also delete faulty connections manually, one by one, which causes the corresponding faulty nodes to disappear from the component.
Note: If the source and target nodes have the same name but different namespaces, an Include Descendants and Map Namespace button appears. Clicking this button will automatically move all child connections from the source namespace to the corresponding child nodes under the new namespace.
Faulty connections in databases (Professional and Enterprise editions)
If your database component has faulty connections, you will need to change the component settings. Clicking the Change button in the Component Settings dialog allows you to select a different database or change tables in your database component. All valid connections and database data will be kept if you select a database with the same structure.
