Extended support for Global Resources

MapForce Server supports Altova Global Resources, which offer an easy way of making file, folder, and database references configurable and portable across multiple environments and across multiple Altova software products.

A typical usage of Global Resources is to define a database connection once and reuse it across all Altova applications that support Global Resources (e.g., MapForce, XMLSpy, StyleVision, and now MapForce and FlowForce Servers). For example, you can create a database connection on the machine where a MapForce mapping was designed and then reuse the same connection on the machine where MapForce Server runs the mapping.

You can also create multiple variations of the same Global Resource, known as "configurations". This lets you easily switch file or folder paths (or even databases) depending on your needs. For example, you could create a database resource with development and production configurations. This makes it easy to retrieve data from either the development or production database by indicating the desired configuration as a parameter for MapForce Server at runtime.

Starting with Version 2020, Global Resources are also supported by FlowForce Server for seamless support for automating data mapping jobs. Extending support for Global Resources to FlowForce Server has been a common customer request for improving efficiency of data mapping automation.

Support for MapForce 2020 features

In addition to support for Global Resources, MapForce Server 2020 supports the same new functionality for processing Web services and database mappings added in MapForce 2020:

  • OAuth 2.0 authorization in Web services calls
  • Mapping JSON Lines
  • Database schema independency
  • Additional database versions
