There are essentially two parts to running the Contract Manager system: the administration of the system and the using of the system. This topic provides an entry point for descriptions that will help you get started with both parts.
Altova Contract Manager contains a starter contract database with a simple structure and sample data. The idea is to let you explore how this database works—both its configuration and its use—so that you become familiar with the system. Once you are ready, you can delete the sample data and modify the database to suit your requirements. Note that all the system administration changes you make will be implemented immediately and be available to users immediately. As a result, you can start your contract management work as soon as you want.
When Contract Manager opens, you will be presented with one of the following:
•A page that allows you to choose whether to go to the Admin Zone or to the User Zone of Contract Manager (screenshot below left). In this case you are an administrator of Contract Manager.
•The Start Page of the Contract Manager user interface (screenshot below right). In this case you are a user of Contract Manager, not an administrator. This Start Page provides you with user access to the starter database of Contract Manager.
For information about getting started with system administration, go to the topic Quick Start: System Administration.
For information about getting started with system use, go to the topic Quick Start: System Use.
System administration can be concurrent with system use
You can reconfigure the database, add new forms, change settings, and carry out other administration tasks even after users have started working with the system. Any admin changes you have make will be reflected on the user side as soon as the user interacts with the system.
