The XML Node template is intended to be used within an XBRL object template. It accesses the XML node associated with the XBRL object template, and so enables regular XML access and operations within the XML Node template, especially using XPath. For example, Auto-Calculations can be used and will have the element represented by the XBRL object as its context node.

XBRLXMLNodeTemplates

In the screenshot above, both XBRL object templates contain XML Node templates.

The first XML Node template returns the contents of all the period elements that correspond to the Period XBRL objects that are generated.

The second XML Node template returns the contents of all the identifier elements that correspond to the Identifier XBRL objects that are generated. In addition an Auto-Calculation is used. The context node for the Auto-Calculation will be the identifier element.
