ActiveX: Security Considerations
When you use certain add-in features, you might encounter the error "Cannot insert object". This is likely due to the heightened security settings for ActiveX controls in recent Excel updates (including Excel 2024 and Microsoft 365).
To resolve this issue, follow these steps to adjust your Trust Center settings:
1.Open the Excel Options: Go to Excel's File tab and select Options at the bottom left. This opens the Excel Options dialog.
2.Access the Trust Center: In the Excel Options dialog, click on Trust Center in the sidebar, then click the Trust Center Settings button on the right.
3.Adjust the ActiveX Settings: In the Trust Center window, select ActiveX Settings from the sidebar, change the setting to Prompt me before enabling all controls with minimal restrictions. Note: Avoid the setting Disable all controls without notification, as this blocks the add-in from functioning.
4.Enable Trusted Locations (optional but recommended): Select Trusted Locations in the sidebar and ensure the folder where your Excel file or add-in is stored is added as a Trusted Location.
5.Restart Excel: Click OK on all windows and restart Excel for the changes to take effect.
