Track down UML errors with ease

The Messages window within the new Altova UModel 2006 has a new feature that helps you to quickly identify what's causing errors or warnings in your UML software model.

When you are working on your UModel project, the Messages window will display warnings, hints, and error messages whenever you are merging code or checking your UModel project syntax. Simply click on any error or warning message and UModel will automatically open the Model Tree and highlight the element that triggered the message. You can apply this feature for errors detected during syntax checking, code generation, project synchronization, or even to locate issues that arise when importing models as XMI files.

The same method also works when you create a list of all the elements not used in any diagram of your project. Go to the 'Project' menu and choose the 'List Elements not used in any Diagram' option. In the Messages window, you can click on any element that appears in the resulting list to instantly locate it within the Model Tree.

If you are not already a UModel user, you can download a free, 30-day trial to check out this feature.
