Eclipse Integration

In addition to full integration with Microsoft Visual Studio.NET, Altova has added support for integration with the Eclipse Platform. The Eclipse (eclipse.org) development environment is an increasingly popular platform for Java development, WebSphere work, and other development projects.

Eclipse integration is supported on both the Enterprise and Professional Editions of XMLSpy® 2009 and can be downloaded from the components download page.

Integration with XMLSpy® 2009 allows Eclipse users to work with XML using the industry-standard XML development environment, with seamless access to the powerful XMLSpy® 2009 editing views and XML development tools directly within Eclipse.

XML Schema Development

Integration with XMLSpy® 2009 lets you use the world’s leading XML Schema editor in Eclipse. The XMLSpy® 2009 schema view provides an easy-to-use, grapical interface for designing, generating, converting, documenting, and validating XML Schemas.

XQuery Development

You'll also have the ability to edit and execute XQuery files in the Eclipse environment, with intelligent editing features such as syntax coloring, automatic code completion, and many other time-saving utilities to help you create XQuery documents quickly and easily. XMLSpy® 2009 has built-in knowledge of XQuery syntax and provides you with context-sensitive entry helpers at all times, including a list of variables that is updated dynamically as you edit your XQuery document.

Debugging XQuery

Another powerful XMLSpy utility you can utilize in Eclipse is the XQuery debugger, which allows you to set breakpoints on any node in the XML file and any expression in the XQuery document to halt the debugger whenever a particular node or instruction is accessed. When you click the Start Debugger/Go icon, the XQuery processor stops at the first breakpoint and displays the partial output relative to the context of the XQuery processor at that point in the document. The debugger highlights the current node in the XML file and the current instruction in the XQuery document, and all variables, xpath-watch values, and call stack data relevant to that point are displayed in the debugger info windows. The XQuery debugger will help you test and perfect your XQuery code in Eclipse.
