EXTRACT XPATH from XML Schema?
==========================

Hi,

I am using the licensed edition of XMLSPY 2012 professional edition.

I have a requirement to extract all the xpaths from a given .xsd (XML Schema). It is a complex one with number of nested XML schemas.

I am looking in following format.

XPATH Datatype

DataFile/DataR/Region/Sales/Group SalesGroupType
DataFile/DataR/Region/Sales/Group/itemname String

I tried with schema doc option of XMLSPY. It did not document XPATH.

How can I do this? Is it possible to use XMLSPY to do this?

Any input with examples/alternative approaches are highly welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Schema documentation in XMLSpy is more flexible, than you think. If you look at the Schema Generation dialog again, you will find there the option "Use user-defined design...". It comes with few such sample designs, one of which is named XPathGenerator.sps - this is exactly what you are looking for. You will need Altova StyleVision on your machine in order to execute it. You can download a 30-day trial version for testing purposes.
