Re-use Existing XSLT

Altova StyleVision® 2012 lets you work with existing XSLT in two different ways: by basing your design on an existing XSLT file, or by utilizing external XSLT code by importing it as a global template.

Importing Existing XSLT Files

If you have existing XSLT files that were designed for HTML output or XSL files with XSL:FO commands for output in PDF, you can access StyleVision's powerful visual design functionality by basing your design on this code.

import xslt

To base a design on an existing XSLT file, you simply need to specify the XSLT file and schema source and the template will be loaded into the design pane where it can be used for multi-channel publishing and/or to add additional styles using StyleVision's graphical user interface. Any changes to the underlying XSLT code can be previewed or saved at any time.

import xslt

For more information on how to use the graphical design capabilities of StyleVision, see the Stylesheet Designer page.

Utilize External XSLT Code

StyleVision even lets you capitalize on work already done by utilizing external XSLT code in your design. This makes the XSLT templates contained therein available in your stylesheet design as global templates.

To import XSLT code, simple choose add new XSLT file in the Design Overview entry helper window and choose the file you wish to add.

import xslt

The XSLT templates contained in the file are then immediately accessible in the Design Tree.
