StyleVision is a business intelligence application used to design and generate stunning reports from a wide range of data sources, including XML, XBRL, and databases. Reports can be produced in HTML, RTF, PDF, and Word 2007+ (OOXML) formats.

Building Business Reports

To create a report design in StyleVision, simply open an existing XML Schema, XML instance, DTD, XBRL taxonomy, or database, and the content model will appear in the Schema Tree entry helper. You can even connect to multiple XML and database schemas to incorporate data from multiple sources – such as an XML file and a database – in your design. When you select an element or attribute that you wish to see in your report and drag it from the Schema Tree window onto the design pane, StyleVision prompts you to specify how you would like the new node to be handled (for example, as a new paragraph, image, table, etc.). This information will be rendered dynamically based on the data in your source(s). You can also insert static content such as header text, images, hyperlinks, and so on.

The StyleVision interface provides advanced entry helper windows for viewing, editing, and assigning the style and layout properties of each element or document section in your report design. Learn more about this functionality on the Stylesheet Design page.

Dynamic Reporting

StyleVision supports dynamic reporting, letting you create layout templates for consistent formatting while allowing actual report content to be determined at run-time based on your source data. This lets you retain your intricate report designs from one project to the next.

Advanced features and functions are supported to let you easily create flexible reporting solutions. StyleVision also includes an integrated XPath Builder, which lets you select data dynamically using complex XPath expressions.

Charting & Graphing

Charts and graphs add strong visualization components to your reports and are easily added to your report designs.

Barcode Support

StyleVision has also integrated all of the barcode implementations provided by the BarCode4J library. This enables you to automatically generate barcodes for your template design output in HTML, RTF, PDF, Word 2007+, and Authentic eForms.

To insert a barcode, simply choose Insert Barcode from the Insert or right-click context menu.

The Edit Barcode dialog can then be used to add or edit the properties that define the barcode including text, font, size, and orientation.

Interactive Reporting

StyleVision supports interactive reporting through Authentic, Altova's XML and database content editor. Designers can distribute their designs to Authentic users, who can select data that they wish to show using drop down menus, check boxes, etc.
