Topic: Does DatabaseSpy requires DB2 client?
Posted: Wednesday, January 14, 2009 5:55:45 PM
Thank you, mpcsmits. But of course I've got the IBM DB2 ODBC and CLI driver from an IBM DB2 support pages (but later have found it on one of the DB2 installation disks). The problem is that I don't want to install the DB2 client (pretty hefty piece of software) for ODBC driver only on this particular computer whose only connection to DB2 is DatabaseSpy. Is there a 'lighter' solution?

Back to my initial question: do I have to install the DB2 client to use DatabaseSpy with DB2?

Hello,

I have installed a trial DbSpy version on my Windows XP machine in order to check how does it work with DB2. I have spent a lot of time looking for DB2 ODBC driver. When I found and installed it, I still cannot add a DB2 data source, since there is no place to enter a remote server name and (since there is no DB2 client) there is no database catalog.

I tried to connect to a MS SQL Server and there is no problem connecting to it.

Does DatabaseSpy require DB2 client to be installed on the same machine? Thank you.
