I am using the database comparison to view data differences between 2 database instances and it worked for a few tables, but not for some others.

For some of the tables it shows a set of records and even identifies certain rows as equal or not equal etc. but it only shows the string '[NULL}' for the data in most columns. I know these columns have valid data. Also on the same records there may be other data which is displayed - so far only numeric data though.

Any ideas? Is this an option issue?

Hi,

Are you comparing two supported databases?
Check it on the documentation page:

http://origin.altova.com/manual/DatabaseSpy/dbs_intro_supporteddbs.htm

If this doesn't help maybe you can contact the Support.

Bye
