Altova Delivers Compliance Solutions for HIPAA, HL7, NIEM, and XBRL

VISIT ALTOVA AT FOSE 2011 – BOOTH #1428 – TO LEARN MORE ABOUT TOOLS FOR COMPLIANCE AVAILABLE IN THE ALTOVA MISSIONKIT

BEVERLY, MA, July 19, 2011 – Altova® (http://www.altova.com),creator of XMLSpy®, the industry leading XML editor, will be highlighting its tools for ensuring compliance with healthcare, financial, government, and other industry standards at FOSE 2011 (Booth #1428), July 19-21, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The latest release of the MissionKit® – Version 2011 Release 3 – builds upon existing support for working with the Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), Health Level 7 (HL7), and National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) , while introducing new, native support for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) 5010 standard, and more.

“The number of regulatory and other standards with which organizations across all industries must comply is growing,” said Alexander Falk, President & CEO for Altova. “Fortunately for IT professionals supporting these industries, we have a number of tools that support compliance with these important standards. For example, MapForce, our graphical data mapping tool, now gives users support for transforming data to and from EDI formats including HIPAA-mandated X12, making it an essential tool for IT professionals tasked with supporting the latest HIPAA IT compliance regulations.”

  • HIPAA – MapForce® 2011 Release 3 allows users to map their data to HIPAA compliant formats through support for the subset of X12 standards specified by HIPAA legislation. MapForce now natively supports X12 transactions in Version 5010 for HIPAA electronic administrative transactions (Version 5010 must be used for HIPAA transactions by January 1, 2012). In addition to its graphical data mapping and intuitive drag and drop functionality, MapForce offers advanced data processing filters and built-in functions allowing users to combine multiple inline and recursive operations in complex integration situations. Additionally, MapForce will automatically generate Java, C++, or C# code to execute recurring conversions.

MapForce transforms data to and from common formats including EDI as well as XML, databases, Excel 2007+, and other flat files, and Web services. In addition to HL7 and ASC X12 (including HIPAA X12), other EDI formats supported by MapForce include: UN/EDIFACT, IATA PADIS, and SAP IDOC.

  • HL7 – Both a standards organization and set of healthcare messaging standards, HL7 has already been mandated in a large number of countries for the transmission of healthcare data, and there is an expectation that HL7 will become a part of HIPAA regulations in the future. Altova XMLSpy and MapForce provide support for the HL7 standard and the set of healthcare messaging standards that it creates. Users can utilize XMLSpy to edit, view the structure of, and validate HL7 messages and harness the powerful data mapping capabilities of MapForce to map HL7 messages in both legacy EDI (v2.x) and XML-based (v 3.x) formats to and from XML, databases, flat files, and Web services, as well as HL7 to EDI formats.

  • NIEM – NIEM is an XML-based standard for enterprise-wide data sharing between United States government agencies and their information partners. Because of its inherent flexibility, the NIEM framework touches on a wide variety of standards including XML, XML Schema, XSLT, Web services, even UML and RDF. The Altova MissionKit is the only software package on the market that addresses all of these technologies and more, providing tools that support the end-to-end conception, modeling, development, management, and execution of NIEM messages.

  • XBRL – Multiple Altova MissionKit tools – XMLSpy, MapForce, and StyleVision® – offer functionality to support XBRL, the XML-based format required by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), giving users an affordable, easy solution for meeting their XBRL reporting requirements in house. Users can utilize the MissionKit to validate XBRL instance documents, extend industry-standard XBRL taxonomies, map data between back-end databases and XBRL data, and even create full featured reports including tables, charts, and graphs to analyze and publish XBRL in multiple formats.
