•You should have already installed the WoodgroveNet sample and should be familiar with the Site Development Tutorial of Microsoft Content Management Server 2002.
•You will also need to download the Altova.Authentic.Placeholders Assembly.
•It is highly recommended that you also download and install XMLSpy Enterprise Edition on your development workstation, which contains a sample XML document OrgChart.xml that is used in this tutorial.
Opening the Woodgrove sample in Visual Studio .NET and Customizing the Toolbox
|1.||Right-click the toolbox, switch to .NET Framework Components and browse to Altova.Authentic.Placeholders.dll.|
|2.||Select the Altova.Authentic.Placeholders.dll and close the dialog with OK.|
You should now see the AuthenticPlaceholderControl (and the corresponding Authentic icon) in the toolbox.
Creating a new CMS template
|1.||Open CMS Template Explorer in VS.NET (View | Other Windows | CMS Template Explorer).|
|2.||Create a new template (e.g. OrgChartTestTemplate) under WoodgrooveNet.|
3. Create a new MCMS Template File in the Woodgrove Sample (e.g. CmsOrgChartTemplate.aspx).
|4.||Associate the Template Source file with the template:|
•Select OrgChartTestTemplate in CMS Template Explorer.
•In the Property-Window of VS.Net set TemplateFile to our Template Source file (e.g. /WoodgroveNet/CmsOrgChartTemplate.aspx).
|5.||Add a placeholder definition to the template:|
•Select OrgChartTestTemplate in CMS Template Explorer and in the Property Window.
•Open the PlaceholderDefinitions collection, add a new XmlPlaceholderDefinition, and name it (e.g. OrgChart).
•Close the dialog box.
|6.||Drag and drop our AuthenticPlaceholderControl from the Toolbox to the template source file (CmsOrgChartTemplate.aspx).|
•Insert your properties in the Authentic category of the designer.
Binding the Placeholder to the Control
|1.||Select our control in the Design View of CmsOrgChartTemplate.aspx and in the Property Window of the designer.|
|2.||Set PlaceholderToBind to OrgChart.|
Also add a WebAuthorConsole
•Drag and drop a DefaultConsole.ascx from the Solution Explorer onto your template file (CmsOrgChartTemplate.aspx).
The newly created CMS Template is now ready for testing:
|1.||Open the WoodGrooveNet sample in IE.|
|2.||Login, and switch to Edit site.|
|3.||Start adding a new page (with Create New Page).|
|4.||Navigate to OrgChartTestTemplate and select it.|

Version 6.1 of the CMS Placeholder Control adds the following properties:
CMS and IIS 6
IIS 6 only serves up file types that are defined in the MIME types for the specific site.
To add a MIME type to a web site or directory:
|1.||Start or open the IIS Control Panel applet (Management console).|
|2.||Select the site that needs to be configured, then select Properties from the context menu.|
|3.||In the HTTP Headers Tab, click the Mime Types button.|
|4.||Select New Type.|
|5.||In the Extension box, type "sps", or "xsd" and select "text/plain" in the Content Type (MIME).|
|6.||Confirm with OK.|
