Topic: EDI mapping to Relational DB
Posted: Friday, February 26, 2010 1:10:33 AM
We're trying to map an EDI 837 document to a relational database.

The EDI document contains a logical hierarchy that through the use of "HL" segments, but they are all at the same level in the X12 document. Our database model represents these relationship as tables with a nested relationship and foreign keys.

The problem we have is that when we map the data in the X12 to the subordinate tables in the database we either don't get any record generated (for health_claim.subscriber in the image below), or we don't get the foreign key of the parent table.

any suggestions or experience with this type of thing would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
