Browser FAQ Answers- When I click on the Browser View button from the tool bar, I receive an error "Temporary file could not be created.
Access is denied" and the browser will not launch, why?
This is a problem with IE. When you open an XML file straight from an e-mail the file is saved in a temporary folder.
XMLSpy® 2010 can handle this and successfully save and therefore show an XML file. IE on the other hand cannot successfully do this
and gives an "Access Denied" message. Saving the file first will enable IE to show it correctly.
- Can I use Netscape instead of Microsoft's Internet Explorer as a Browser?
To use XMLSpy® 2010 you must have Internet Explorer installed on your computer.
XMLSpy® 2010 uses Internet Explorer for its Browser view and Authentic® View. To ensure correct operational functioning a minimum of IE 5.5. is required. We recommended IE 6 as this version of IE currently has the most support for XML on the market. StyleVision® 2010 and Authentic® 2010 also require IE 5.5 or 6.0.
- Why does the Browser view only show the XML text with little + symbols?
Internet Explorer applies a built in stylesheet to any XML file which does not contain a stylesheet processing instruction or has not otherwise been transformed in XMLSpy® 2010. The built in stylesheet contains scripting which allows one to expand and contract complex elements i.e. elements which contain other elements. If you apply a stylesheet to your XML file this will override Internet Explorer's default stylesheet.
- When I switch to the Browser view and then back to the Text view why are any empty lines eliminated?
The integrated Browser view strips the white space in order to display the file. You should therefore save your file before switching to the Browser view if any changes have been made during the open session. When you then switch back to the Text view, press the reload icon on the toolbar and your white space formatting will re-appear.
