JavaScript is a scripting language that adds interactivity to HTML pages. Web developers add JavaScript code directly into their HTML pages to, for example, detect the browser being used to view a page, change the appearance of a page (e.g., change an image upon mouseover), store and retrieve cookies on the user’s machine, validate data entered into forms, and more. The Altova XMLSpy® 2010 API provides access to a scripting environment that supports JavaScript and VBScript to add dynamic functionality to Web pages. Using the scripting environment, you can create forms, event handlers, and macros, and assign a set of these to a scripting project within XMLSpy. An event handler is executed when its associated event occurs in XMLSpy. Alternatively, a macro created in the scripting environment can be run from within XMLSpy.
