I tried this and it worked fine now, so I was happy with the result.

Then, I was curious as to why my results were different from all yours,
so I tried to recreate my original code, but I couldn't get it to
reproduce what I was seeing last week, so that's a bit embarassing!

The example I posted was a bit simplified, as what I'm actually doing is
parsing Word XML files, so I removed all the namespaces etc .
Oh well...thank you all anyway for you efforts!
