Which is why I offered "ken2.xsl" as an option which reads only a 
dozen lines of XML and would build a small tree:

Remember that document('') reads only the XML fragment that has the 
call to the function ... it is not reading in the entire stylesheet 
import tree.  There is no access in this way to stylesheet values 
outside of the fragment.
