I've made freely available on our web site (linked below) the 
introductory chapters of our XSLT and XSL-FO books for sale as 
excerpts.  Go to the "Books and free excerpts" link at the right side 
of the home page.



I think this should help him.  It has introductory text on the 
overview, the data model, the processing model, the different areas 
of instructions and functions, and cross references at the back.  We 
do not charge for downloading the free excerpt and there is no 
obligation to buy the PDF books themselves.



If no one can come up with any favorite explanations, I'll do some 
more digging. We're in about Wave 12 or 14 of XSLT beginners here 
(assuming we've had two waves a year or so since 1999), and this 
information has been written up many times.

:{)}  Yep!  And the tide never seems to abate!  It's been wonderful!

p.s. and there is also training!  Mulberry (who Wendell works for)
