First put the PID into a variable

<xsl:variable name="pid" select="@pid" />

then change the context

<xsl:for-each select="document('doc2.xml')" >

then you can grab the note you want

<xsl:value-of
select="notes/note/sectionNote/paraNote[@pid='$pid']"
/>
