I think Michael must be referring to the defaultAttributes
attribute on the schema element, which takes a QName as
value and interprets it as identifying a named attribute
group which (by default) is automatically included by each
complex type definition in that schema document.

If you want a fairly complete list of changes from XSD 1.0,
perhaps the lists in appendix G of Structures
(http://www.w3.org/TR/xmlschema11-1/#changes) and appendix
I of Datatypes (http://www.w3.org/TR/xmlschema11-2/#changes)
might be helpful.  If they are not, this editor would be
interested to learn how they fall short.
