Yes, this is a real benefit.

I think most people have a favorite schema language which they use most 
of the time. They then exchange data with people who do not use The One 
True Schema Language. We've gotten past the point that we scream at 
those people, we recognize there are advantages to each schema language, 
we just want interoperability. That's a good thing.
