Re: [xml-dev] Does a XSD schema define the minimum or maximum structure of an XML doc?

Generally an XML schema specifies the allowed contents of an XML instance
quite precisely and adding additional elements or attributes to an XML
instance will likely cause it to become invalid.

However, you can specify what are called wildcards using xs:any and
xs:anyAttribute which allow XML instances to include additional elements and
attributes not explicitly specified in the schema. Such additional elements
do have to occur where the xs:any declarations allow them, so in general,
even with xs:any declarations, you can't add in elements just any where.
