Rick,
RM> 1. gotcha - australian colloquial (i guess) - the little things that go
RM> wrong that you just don't expect - they "get you"
Thank you.
RM> 2. team size - me
RM> 3. yes 30 years
You are strong man.
RM> 4. You can extend SQL informally by adding to a conformant product and by
RM> offering the extension to the body that maintains the standard. That's a
RM> reasonable process used all the time by the mainstream database vendors.
I propose to incorporate some of extentions as full-right part of SQL.
RM> Of course you can call anything you like SQL, but if it doesn't have a
RM> conforming base
We run in circle: SQL should have 'conforming base' (ancient BNF),
because it have it.
Aggregates or functions are also heterogeneous on background of 'conforming base',
and using them is also revolutionary to consciousness.
RM> 5. one to one translations - ultimately to machine code - is an
RM> important subject, but not enough space to cover that here.
I wanted to say, that possibility to translate TML into DML is not
objection against to incorporate TML into SQL:
it could be appropriate at level of machine code and reducing one
algorithm to another algorithm.
When we speak about language for man, we must study properties of
human perception of different syntax.
