Nielsen's points on usability are always to reach the widest
demographic through the lowest common technical denominator. Is it
possible though that a killer enough App encourages increase of
technical competence in the community at large, in this case the
internet, to be able to derive the benefit of the app. If this is the
case, and I know of no research one way or another, to play to the
peanut gallery is a mug's game.
