a string, in SOAP, is not XML. so it is somewhat confusing what you
are saying here.
I guess there is not a best practice for that in particular, there are
many argued best practices for development of XML languages but SOAP
has some particular restrictions of what is allowed from XML in SOAP
thus there are things you cannot do no matter how much you would want
- most of this is not actual markup structure issues but rather
tertiary stuff like not using DTDs and so forth.
But at any rate you are trying to make XML that must be delivered as a
SOAP doc/literal message (right?) thus it is more the best practices
for SOAP you are looking for.
I will enigmatically look up at heaven now, whistle, and say good luck
