Will do ... I will be looking into running enovdl under mono to see 
if I can get a bona fide UBL example up and running.  After posting 
it to the UBL TC I will link to it from XML-Dev.

I'm optimistic that the user community will pressure vendors and 
technology providers to solve problems users identify with 
standardized solutions when users value the solution well enough to 
make the vendors interested.

(how's that for hedging?)

It is a chicken-and-egg problem that needs to be, I believe, 
kick-started by the users.

If I can demonstrate NVDL working for UBL solving a known problem 
with a standardized solution, then UBL users can go to the vendors 
and say "are you planning to implement or can you support me with 
this standardized technology?".  If enough people get interested, 
then I think vendors will get interested.

I hope vendors do get interested in standardized solutions.

Within about 6 weeks NVDL will be an International 
Standard.  RELAX-NG and Schematron are already International 
Standards.  The technology is waiting to be embraced, and it was 
created to solve known problems in the markup space.  Now's the time 
to deploy them and show their benefit.

Will any vendors on this list comment on whether the standardized 
nature of these problem-solving technologies will interest them in 
providing solutions?

Will any users on this list comment on whether they will approach 
their vendors with interest in these new technologies that solve new problems?

Am I optimistic?  A good markup friend called me Quixotic.
