Depends on what kind of information needs to be exchanged
I guess.

Lot's of information does already get exchanged electronically
in business. If nothing else, faxes are almost perfect.

Coming back to xml, I don't know if you've seen the UBL spec
for XML transactions. But they have a pretty reasonable set
of unambiguous transactions. Things like biztalk also have
users.

With UBL, mappings and transformations are a little less important
as there is less ambiguity as most of it is defined.

I just think as a technology, UBL has just so far to go
and so much potential. It's probably one of the most
underhyped and undersold technologies that have come
out over the last 5 years.
