Re: [xml-dev] xml / xslt problem. (following and preceding sibling)

(xsl-list probably better than xml-dev for this, but anyway...)

select="preceding-sibling::ent/@name"

selects _all_ name attributes of _all_ preceding-sibling::ent elements.

<xsl:value-of

when presented with a node set of more than one node _always_ takes the
first node in document order, gives the string value of that, and
discards the other nodes.

You want the immediately preceding name (I think) so you only want to
select one node, so use

select="preceding-sibling::ent[1]/@name"
                             ^^^^

You should do this for following-sibling as well although you happen to
get the answer you wanted in that case.

David
