I can't see any chapter/verse that says in XPath 1.0 that the parent axis
is in document order ... but does it matter? There is only ever zero or
one nodes on the parent axis, so why is order important?
Perhaps you are considering that XSLT regards a set of nodes selected by
XPath as always in document order, regardless of the order of the axes used
in the generation of the set.
