Not sure whether you mean IP address spoofing or forging a Sender's e-mail
address. The latter is a common technique these days for spam and malware.

If you read the e-mail header of the virus-ridden message, you can check for a
forged Sender and whether the originating IP and all of the other info matches
an authentic XML-DEV message.
