Just at a conceptual level, I'm interested to know what influenced you 
towards this perception...books, articles, discussions, etc? Was it the 
way that something made you think it ought to be possible; or was it the 
opposite: you saw/heard nothing that suggested it wouldn't be possible?
One of my research topics is the [un]usability of some XML software...

Do it server side. Browsers simply don't provide this level of XML 
support yet (after 10 years they *still* don't grok it...<sigh/>)
