Do you mean a Word doc saved as XML or a binary formatted one?
If the latter then no as XSLT version one cannot handle non XML source 
documents, if the former then yes.
It won't be easy unless the document is simple though. There was a 
stylesheet floating around the microsoft site which did this but I can't 
find it now.
If you have a particular document in mind and you need help transforming 
then post it here.
