You are yourself posting in comp.text.xml I think, of course it is not 
devoted to XSLT alone but it is certainly independent in being not 
focussed on using XML with the products of one particular vendor.

And then for XSL only there is the mailing list 
<http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list> which you probably know too. 
As many other mailing lists it is possible to use that list from a news 
interface the server news.gmane.org provides. Reading that list like a 
newsgroup is certainly possible that way, I don't know how posting to 
subscription based lists is solved by gmane.
