Convert a custom date format into RFC 822

I want to convert a custom date format of the type DD/MM/YYYY into the
RFC 822 date format in order to use it for RSS feeds. I want to do this
transformation into an XSLT transformation which is binded to a C# aspx
page. I want to take one custom date XML element as input and produce
the RFC 822 equivalent. Any ideas how this can be accomplished??

Thank you in advance.
