Thank you very much for the help.  Although I'm a bit peeved that the 
documentation says in one area that a direct string comparison works and then 
says it doesn't in another (I've wasted hours on this little piece of code), 
I am relieved to know that I'm not overlooking something simple and others 
are seeing the same problem.  I'll look into using the ms:string-compare 
function - that should work for me just fine.  Thanks again.
