How to preserve whitespace from source document in output html ?

I'd like to output the following line from XML document to HTML:

<detail_data>Missing DNs:
==============================================
"dn: GlueCEUniqueID="
"dn: GlueSEUniqueID="
"dn: GlueCESEBindSEUniqueID="
"dn: GlueSARoot="</detail_data>

But it turn out to be this:
Missing DNs: ============================================== "dn:
GlueCEUniqueID=" "dn: GlueSEUniqueID=" "dn: GlueCESEBindSEUniqueID=" "dn:
GlueSARoot="

the white spaces are all getting away!

I have tried the tags such as <xsl:apply-templates/>, <xsl:preserve
element="*"/>, <xsl:value-of disable-output-escaping="no"
select="detail_data"/>,
but none of these worked!

I'm using XML-SPY. but in MS-IEXPLORER6,which contains the MSXML, the output
still have no whitespace remains.

Could anyone tell me what should I do?
Thanks!

Pei.
