Sorry, but my Spanish is horrid; not really sure what the above error is
saying. However, you've got the format wrong:

ms:format-date(dateval, 'MMMM dd, yyy')

Notice prefix is 'ms', not 'msxsl'

You also need to make sure you include this namespace in your head:

xmlns:ms="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xslt"
