Pictures stored in XML as hex numbers

Hi. I use Oracle's BC4J technology. There's one method which converts
table's (viewobject) data directly into XML. Then we use XSL
stylesheet to convert it to HTML (also PDF via FOP) page. The BLOB
datatype is converted into sequence of hex numbers and put in XML too.
For example jpg picture looks like this:
<foto>FFD8FFE00010......01FFD9</foto>. The only way I know how to show
pictures on result HTML page is to convert the hex representation to
files on disc and put links to them to HTML. Is there any other way to
bypass making files? For example the web archives (.mht extension)
have all pictures stored inside them. Could it be possible something
like this in XSL? Thanks.
