What's a "MOD file" exactly? Are you sure MSXML supports that file format?

As for using MSXML with C++, I am afraid I can't help with that. You 
might want to try 
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/msxml/threads/ instead as 
some people are around there helping with MSXML and C++ issues.
