I guess Microssoft is big enough to have many XSD schema implementations! And that's really why I raised the issue. Just looking at it, it seems obvious that <xs:element name=3D'item'/> defines an empty element, but surprisingly it's not the case. I've seen this misconception a number of times and just wanted to send out a heads up for beginners.
