You do not indicate for what. Relating to the newsgroup you posted I
would assume you want to use it for testing your developments. On the
other side, this question is so beginner and newbie like, that I would
assume, you just may need a web-server, that gets the things done
quikly, ie. serve you some files.

* The biggest install would be Apache. With it you get an
enterprise-grade web-server, that can do all, except proprietary MS
technologies like ASP. At least to my knowledge...

* A much more elegant solution, because it is much more lightweight,
would be the Win32 build of LightTPD, a lightweight, but still very
powerful HTTP server, that is also in use by enterprises. Also free/open
source.

* You could also try the Abyss Web Server in version 1, which is a free
download from http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/

* The free edition of http://www.fastream.com/iqwebftpserver.php

* There is another one, especially nice for beginners, that want to have
a quick install to a web-server, completley GUIed, but I forgot its name ;-)
