Why use Xpath?

Greetings,

As part of an assignment I have been asked to justify why to use XPath as
part of a e-commerce XML business solution.

Would appreciate it if it could be proofread and commented upon?
I havent really address if there are any other XML alternatives to XPath.

The justification only needs to be a few small paragraphs.

Below are my ramblings? :-

Using XPath in conjunction with the XML file, schema and stylesheet
continues to contain all the data within the XML family, an industry
standard.

Cost effective as no additional hardware i.e. servers need to be purchased
other than the xml server hosting the data and no additional software i.e.
database software to store the data.

Reduces workload as most database solutions are relational, significant
changes to the design of the XML data and schema may be required to ensure
the correct relational structure is there within the data to allow the data
to be correct on the database side.

There is also the simplicity of maintaining the code within the stylesheet
using xpath, if you are familiar with XML schema and stylesheet there
shouldn't be any problems learning the syntax with a relatively short space
of time (plenty of easy to read guides/tutorials readily available).

There are the expandability options available with Xpath especially with
Microsoft .Net products which may be an advantage for integration with
existing or forthcoming systems.
