Alternatively you can XSLT to take your XML file as input, find the node or nodes you want to change and have XSLT write out the updated XML file for you. Now, if you were to post a snippet of your XML file to this newsgroup and describe the change you want to make, I'm sure someone (maybe me even) will show you the way to do it in XSLT. Using XSLT will probably give you a more general solution that you can use over and over again with small modifications for different update tasks. Programming in DOM generally tends to be much more specific to a single task so you probably will not get as much reuse of the code in the future.
