Hello Joe,
Thanks for your answer... but according to my tests (see my previous 
post), the behaviour is precisely opposite of what you say:
with SelectNodes I get a node list that follows the reverse axis order 
starting from the context node, whereas SelectSingleNode selects the 
first node in the document order.
