Windows Update problems

I have reaad the threaad regarding Windows update and problems with
msxml3.dll. I am having the same problem described there but none of the
solutions seem to help. Each time I go to windows update or microdoft
update it checks to see if I have updated software. It seems to think so
and gives me the page to select express or custom install. no matter
which one I check it comes back and tells me that the necessary files
are either missing or not registered. clicking to register files results
in dowloading and registration and then return to the installation
selection page to start all over again. I have the sp7 version of msxml3
installed and it seems that all the necessary files are present and
registered so I am at a loss as where to go next?? I have included a
copy of the windows update log in hopes that it will help identify the
problem? Thanks for any help
