I've no idea but the point about stylesheets is that different ones can be 
applied to the same XML so that embedding seems to contradict that idea. 
Given the general unreliability of client-side processing if you know which 
stylesheet to use then server-side transformation seems much more 
preferable.
Not sure if that was the rationale but the use cases do seem rather thin on 
the ground, if you can provide any then perhaps it will be considered.
