MSXML 4 fully supports XPath 1.0 and some extension functions, see <http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/xmlsdk/html/b5c850f1-077d-4200-81eb-f723436d65ae.asp> XPath 2.0 is not yet a W3C recommendation and has so far not been implemented by Microsoft.
