If your question is specific to that Altova tool then consider asking in 
an Altova newsgroup or forum or mailing list.
If you are using MSXML then that exposes some XPath date/time extension 
functions in addition to XPath 1.0 functions.

If you need further help then we need to see details of the input XML 
and the stylesheet and what exactly goes wrong.
